Understand your treatment

What is an implant bridge?

An implant bridge replaces neighboring missing teeth with connected replacement teeth supported by dental implants. It stays in place when you eat and clean your teeth, rather than being removed at home.

In the three-tooth example shown, two implants support abutments at either end of the bridge. The replacement tooth in the middle, called a pontic, connects to the supported teeth without an implant directly beneath it. Your examination determines the number and position of implants needed for your bridge.

Unlike a conventional tooth-supported bridge, an implant bridge uses implants for support instead of crowns on the neighboring natural teeth.

The NEDIC approach

How we plan your care

We plan the bridge around the teeth you are missing, the available bone, and your bite. At your consultation, we review the design, healing stages, temporary tooth options, and your individual treatment estimate.

  1. Assess the space

We examine your teeth and gums and review imaging to plan implant positions and the shape of your bridge.

  2. Plan and place the implants

Your plan explains the surgical steps, any preparatory treatment, and the comfort options appropriate for your care.

  3. Allow healing

We monitor healing and discuss temporary teeth when appropriate before moving ahead with the final restoration.

  4. Fit the connected bridge

We check how the bridge fits, looks, and meets your bite, and show you how to clean around the implants and beneath the middle tooth.

Your goals

What you can expect

  • A fixed replacement for several neighboring missing teeth.
  • Connected teeth designed around your smile and bite.
  • Implant support without using neighboring natural teeth to hold the bridge.

Your result and treatment timeline depend on your starting condition, healing, and ongoing care. We review realistic expectations with you before treatment.

After treatment

Caring for your smile

Clean around the implants and beneath the bridge daily using the tools your dental team recommends. Keep your scheduled reviews so we can assess the tissues, bite, and restoration. Contact us if the bridge feels loose or uncomfortable.
